As CEO of Digital Planets, Dr. Ahmed Hanafy combines entrepreneurial vision with technological expertise to build future-ready businesses across the region.
For Dr. Ahmed Hanafy, CEO of Digital Planets, technology is most powerful when it solves real-world challenges and creates measurable impact. From establishing the company in Egypt to expanding across the UAE and Saudi Arabia, he has built a business focused on innovation, operational excellence, and long-term value creation. Today, as artificial intelligence reshapes industries worldwide, he believes organizations must move beyond experimentation and embrace technology as a strategic driver of growth and transformation.
How would you describe your leadership philosophy, and what has shaped it most significantly over the course of your career?
My leadership philosophy is built on empowerment, accountability, and continuous innovation. I believe leaders should create environments where people are trusted to take ownership, challenge conventional thinking, and grow professionally.
Throughout my career, I have learned that sustainable success is never achieved by one individual. It is built by strong teams united by a shared vision. Expanding Digital Planets across different markets and cultures taught me the importance of adaptability, resilience, and leading by example.
What is the one opportunity you believe leaders in your sector are not yet fully capitalising on?
I believe the biggest untapped opportunity is the practical integration of artificial intelligence into operational decision-making.
Many organizations still view AI as a standalone technology rather than a business transformation tool. Across sectors such as manufacturing, hospitality, government, and critical infrastructure, AI can move beyond automation and become a real-time decision-support system that improves efficiency, reduces risk, and delivers measurable business value.
What has been the most defining decision you have made for your organisation?
One of the most defining decisions was expanding beyond our home market and establishing a regional presence across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
The move required significant investment, organizational transformation, and the willingness to step outside our comfort zone. It taught me that growth is not simply about increasing revenue; it is about building scalable systems, developing future leaders, and adapting to the unique dynamics of each market. It also reinforced the importance of long-term thinking and strategic partnerships.
What key priorities or strategic shifts will define your organisation’s next phase of growth?
Our next phase of growth will focus on three priorities: artificial intelligence, regional expansion, and platform-driven innovation. We are investing in AI-powered solutions across cybersecurity, industrial operations, surveillance, and digital services while strengthening our presence across the GCC. Internally, we are evolving from a traditional technology services provider into a more scalable ecosystem that combines consulting, software platforms, managed services, and AI-driven solutions to create greater value for our clients.
