For Stephanie Grace Bernal Pagal, Founder and CEO of VirtuallyPH, leadership is about creating opportunities that empower people to succeed. Having built the company from the ground up, she has navigated financial challenges, rapid growth, and the evolving outsourcing landscape while staying committed to a people-first approach.
How would you describe your leadership philosophy?
My leadership philosophy is rooted in servant leadership, accountability, and growth through people. I believe organizations scale when individuals feel empowered, supported, and trusted to lead within their own roles.
Building VirtuallyPH from the ground up taught me resilience through financial challenges, rapid expansion, and the changing dynamics of the outsourcing industry. Over time, I learned that leadership is not about controlling every outcome. It is about creating systems, culture, and opportunities that allow others to thrive.
What is the one opportunity you believe leaders in your sector are not yet fully capitalizing on?
Many leaders in the outsourcing and virtual staffing industry still underestimate the power of strategic partnerships over transactional support.
Virtual assistants today can contribute far beyond administrative functions. With the right training, systems, and integration, they can become key drivers of growth across operations, marketing, customer management, and automation. The biggest opportunity lies in combining AI, automation, and highly skilled human talent to create scalable support ecosystems.
What has been the most defining decision you have made for your organization, and what did it teach you?
One of the most defining decisions I made was positioning VirtuallyPH as a premium, specialized agency rather than competing solely on price.
We focused on strengthening our systems, investing in training, and building expertise within the real estate sector. That decision taught me that sustainable growth comes from creating value, not from price competition. It also reinforced the importance of protecting company culture while scaling. Growth requires difficult decisions, continuous reinvention, and the willingness to evolve ahead of the market.
Is there anything else you would like to share that you feel is important for our readers to know?
This recognition reflects not only my journey, but also the dedication of the entire VirtuallyPH team. Entrepreneurship often appears glamorous, but behind every milestone are years of sacrifice, uncertainty, and persistence.
I believe leadership is not about perfection. It is about consistency, adaptability, and the courage to keep moving forward despite challenges. Success should not be measured solely by revenue growth, but by the opportunities we create and the lives we positively impact through meaningful work.
