For Wasan Al Malki, entrepreneurship is about creating meaningful experiences that connect people, whether through hospitality, technology, or innovation. As the Founder of Thy Yard and a growing portfolio of AI-driven ventures under Al Brashdi & Al Malki Trading LLC, she has built her career on adaptability, vision, and a willingness to evolve.
How would you describe your leadership philosophy, and what has shaped it most significantly?
My leadership philosophy is built on empathy, resilience, and vision. I believe in creating environments where people feel empowered to contribute, grow, and take ownership of their ideas while remaining adaptable to change.
The biggest influence on my leadership journey has been my transition from hospitality into technology. That experience taught me that leadership is not about staying within one industry or comfort zone. It is about having the courage to evolve, embrace new opportunities, and continuously redefine yourself while staying true to your values.
What is the one opportunity you believe leaders in your sector are not yet fully capitalising on?
One of the most significant opportunities lies in the fusion of lifestyle experiences and technology.
Hospitality today can be much more than food, service, and physical spaces. Through AI-driven personalisation, digital engagement, and wellness-focused solutions, businesses can create deeper and more meaningful customer experiences. This intersection remains underutilised, yet it has the potential to transform customer loyalty, strengthen brand connections, and redefine how people interact with businesses in the future.
What has been the most defining decision you have made for your organisation?
One of the most defining decisions I made was expanding Thy Yard beyond a single concept through franchising while simultaneously investing in technology ventures.
This decision taught me that growth requires balance. It is important to preserve the identity and essence of a brand while also being willing to innovate and evolve its business model. The experience reinforced that bold expansion must be accompanied by adaptability, strategic thinking, and the confidence to reinvent when necessary.
What key priorities or strategic shifts will define your organisation’s next phase of growth?
Our next phase of growth will focus on two key priorities. The first is expanding Thy Yard through franchising, bringing its unique hospitality experience to new markets while maintaining the integrity of the brand.
The second is scaling technology platforms with a focus on integrating AI into emotional wellness and lifestyle solutions. Together, these initiatives represent a growth strategy that combines physical experiences with digital innovation, creating future-ready businesses that can serve evolving consumer needs.
