Hong Kong’s popular Wine and Dine Festival is back with exciting changes. It will extend to five days and promote eco-friendliness by eliminating plastic cups. Organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the festival will take place at the Central Harbourfront from October 23 to 27. Over 300 booths will offer a wide variety of food and beverages from numerous countries.

This year’s festival will add an extra day to accommodate more attendees, a response to popular demand after last year’s successful event. “Last year’s festival had an excellent atmosphere, and many asked if we could extend the duration. By adding an extra day, we aim to give locals and tourists more time to enjoy the experience,” said Raymond Chan, general manager of the Tourism Board.

The festival hours have also been extended, with the event closing at 11 PM daily, except for one earlier closing at 8:30 PM on one of the festival days last year. This move aims to enhance the overall experience for the 150,000 attendees expected this year, surpassing the 140,000 from 2022.

The Wine and Dine Festival will no longer provide plastic cups, in a significant step towards sustainability. Instead, guests are encouraged to bring their own wine glasses, for which they will receive a complimentary souvenir glass sleeve. Wine glasses will also be available for HK$50 (US$6.40) at the venue. Last year, plastic cups were sold for HK$5, but the new change aligns with Hong Kong’s recent ban on single-use plastics, including plastic and styrofoam cups, which came into effect in April.

This shift reflects broader environmental policies across the city, with plastic straws, cutlery, food containers, and other single-use items now banned. The festival aims to contribute to Hong Kong’s goal of reducing plastic waste while offering a greener experience for attendees.

The festival will feature an array of wines, including selections from classic regions like Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Italy, as well as emerging markets such as the United Kingdom and Thailand. Wine lovers will also enjoy tastings of natural wines, baijiu, and an exciting new whisky and gin zone featuring products like a gin from Vietnam. Additionally, award-winning mixologists will host cocktail-making sessions, and culinary enthusiasts can join food and drink pairing masterclasses. Visitors attending in Halloween costumes will receive two extra tokens to use as currency for food and drinks. Tickets for the festival are now available on the booking platform Klook. They are priced between HK$240 and HK$400, and early bird discounts are available until October 15.
